Date Set for Thirteenth
Annual National Bereavement
Teleconference
HFA’s 13th Annual National Bereavement
Teleconference will focus on "Pain Management at the End of Life:
Bridging the Gap Between Knowledge and Practice." The live-via-satellite
program will be broadcast Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm
EDT.
HFA's 2006 teleconference will examine
the gap between knowledge and application of effective pain control in
the person with a terminal condition, including pharmaceutical,
psycho-social, spiritual, and complementary aspects of pain management.
The program will highlight cutting-edge knowledge and methodology in an
attempt to bring the hospice approach to palliative care and to a broad
clinical audience. The program will look at laws and regulations that
hinder the practice of pain management. Discussions will examine ways in
which health care workers and the general public can work together to
improve the societal approach to pain management. These subjects and
other interesting issues will be brought to the audience by some of the
leading researchers and practitioners currently working in pain
management.
The teleconference is seen each year by
more than 100,000 people in over 2,000 communities in the U.S. and
Canada. If you work with other organizations at the local or national
level that would be interested in this year’s topic, please pass along
information about the teleconference to them. If you belong to any
professional associations whose members would benefit from knowing about
the program, please contact us at
telecon@hospicefoundation.org and we would be happy to share
information with them.
Registration for organizations hosting
the teleconference will begin in late September; more information and an
online registration form will be available at that time. Please watch
the Site Coordinator's Corner of this e-newsletter for updates.
