We at HFA are looking forward to the April 24th broadcast of our largest educational program of the year. HFA's 9th annual National Bereavement Teleconference, Living With Grief: Loss in Later Life, will be seen in more than 2,000 communities across North America. Learn more about the program.
Jack Gordon, Chairman and CEO of HFA, noted that "Although hospice care is available to any terminally ill person, the vast majority of patients cared for by hospice each year are older persons. And any examination of information about demographic shifts in the United States over the coming years suggests a phenomenal growth in the aging population. The subject of Loss in Later Life, then, seemed an excellent choice to add to HFA's series on Living With Grief." [Note: Mr. Gordon served as Chairman and CEO of HFA until his death in 2005.]

Focus On: Loss in Later Life

In addition to the teleconference, HFA has developed an extensive set of resources as part of our ongoing initiative on Loss in Later Life. Read an article by Pulitzer-Prize winning author Robert Butler on the importance of the Life Review process; learn more about the spiritual needs of those facing loss in later life; understand more about communicating with families during the time of advanced illness; gain practical insights into running a Final Affairs Fair at your organization; utilize our extensive Resource List; and experience a Grandmother's Grief through the Voices of older persons.
